The designer, Shin-Lan Chao, carefully evaluated the space conditions and reimagined the traffic flow by rotating the original stairs. This created a smoother and more harmonious movement throughout the three floors. Each floor serves a different purpose, including the display area, counter area, collection area, gathering area, light meal area, and VIP floor. Customers can enjoy the outstanding wine collection in various areas based on their preferences and interests.
The design exudes quiet elegance through a calm and restrained color palette. Recycled bricks, lighting, marble, wooden cabinets, modeling wallpapers, louver door pieces, iron pieces, Moru glass doors, and solid wood were used to bring the designer's vision to life.
The Pandora Box is located in Taiwan and was completed in April 2021. The project aimed to create a business for the owner's daughter while meeting the needs of retail and collecting. The spatial planning resulted in the creation of different areas and floors, including a retail area, collection area, gathering area, light meal area, and a client-exclusive guest room.
One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the three-story building structure. To ensure the quality of the wine collection, the designer strategically placed the storage area deep within the space, away from direct sunlight. Temperature adjustment and thermal insulation equipment were also carefully considered to maintain optimal conditions for the wines.
The first floor of the Pandora Box features a curved display cabinet and a marble bar counter, offering a wide selection of liquor products. At the end of the hallway, a storage area for wine collections is surrounded by glass, reminiscent of Pandora's box. This design element adds an element of surprise and imagination, providing both beauty and functionality for collectors and buyers.
The Pandora Box design by Shin-Lan Chao has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
